چکیده
Background: Eyelids have been shown to influence corneal shape. The effects of eyelid pathologies on astigmatism widely investigated. This study aimed determine the correlation between levator palpebrae superioris (LPS) muscle function and with-the-rule (WTR) in university students with normal morphology. Methods: was a cross-sectional sample 58 Chinese origin selected by simple random sampling at University College Sedaya International (UCSI) Optometry Clinic, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We included participants aged 18 30 years, regardless sex, morphology, LPS function, WTR astigmatism. For distance upper margin from maximal downgaze upgaze measured, while frontalis negated thumb examiner. Corneal measured using manual Keratometry (Topcon OM-4; Topcon Corporation, Tokyo, Japan). Results: Of participants, 23 (39.7%) were men 35 (60.3%) women. mean ± standard deviation (SD) age 23.22 1.77 years. all means SDs for 14.72 1.74 mm - 1.16 0.47 D, respectively. 25 33 had low moderate astigmatism, functions not significantly different groups (P > 0.05). A positive but statistically insignificant (r = + 0.14; P 0.05) found Conclusions: no significant difference young morphology. Furthermore, low-to-moderate

Fig. 1A. Complete ptosis of the right eye at presentation. Dear Editor, Cysticercosis cellulosae, the larval form of the pork tapeworm Taenia solium, causes cysticercosis, in which humans serve as the intermediate hosts in the parasite life cycle. Cysticercosis is endemic in developing regions such as South America, India and China.1,2 However, a rise in a cysticercosis has been observed in ind...
متن کاملAponeurosis of the levator palpebrae superioris in Chinese subjects
An accurate understanding of the anatomy of the levator palpebrae superioris aponeurosis (LPSA) is critical for successful blepharoplasty of aponeurotic ptosis. We investigated the macroscopic and microscopic anatomy of the LPSA.This prospective live gross anatomy study enrolled 200 adult Chinese patients with bilateral mild ptosis undergoing elective blepharoplasty. Full-thick eyelid tissues a...
متن کاملPalpebrae superioris: exploring the design space of eyelid gestures
In this paper, we explore the design space of eyelid gestures. We first present a framework for the design space based on the anatomy of the eye, human perception, and complexity of the eyelid gesture. Based on the framework we propose an algorithm to detect eyelid gestures with commodity cameras, already existing in laptops and mobile devices. We then populate the design space by demonstrating...
متن کاملMuscle spindles in the levator palpebrae superioris muscle of human foetuses.
Studies were performed on the levator palpebrae superioris muscle, isolated from foetuses aged 17 to 30 weeks. The number of muscle spindles varied from 2 in the 17th week to 7 in the 30th week. The length of the muscle spindles ranged from 20 to 500 microm, and the diameter varied from 10 to 70 microm. These observations show that the number of muscle spindles in levator palpebrae superioris m...

BACKGROUND/AIM The detailed knowledge of the architecture of the upper eyelid is very important in numerous upper eyelid corrective surgeries. The article deals with the detailed anatomy of the major components of the upper lid, which are commonly seen in surgical practice. METHODS This study was conducted on 19 human cadavers (12 adults and 7 infants) without pathologic changes in the orbita...
